James Cameron Week: Day 2

This week we take a look at the one and only James Cameron.

Or Big Jim as we like to call him.

He definitively is the Babe Ruth of Hollywood, hitting nothing but home runs.

With Avatar: The Way of Water hitting theaters on the 16th it gives us the perfect time to reflect on his work.

Specifically, we wanted to take a look at his action set pieces because there might not be anyone better at making big thing go boom.

Set pieces.

It’s by far the thing Cameron is best at.

This whole week is set piece after set piece. If you were to compile a list of the greatest action sequences. In the history of film and were told you could only put one James Cameron scene on that list you’d have a bitch of a time trying to figure out which one you’d use.

For our money, this is the one.

Fun fact: The Schwarzenegger gun flip, in addition to being the coolest thing ever transferred onto 35mm film, was also incredibly difficult to do. To the point where they had to build Arnold his own specialty gun to do the flip and on one take he accidentally grabbed one of the other prop guns and almost broke three of his fingers.
