Good morning Consumers. This is Please Consume, the newsletter that loves movies more than Nick Cage loves taking a paycheck.

The Meyerowitz Stories [ new and selected ] (2017)

If we could just pretend for a moment that White Noise didn't happen, that would be great.
Regardless of his last effort, Noah Baumbach remains one of the best filmmakers working today.
And since this is Brothers Week, it made sense to slide in one of our favorite sibling films.

Performance

The Meyerowitz Story is a family drama at its core. The thing that makes it so special is how real the family dynamics feel.
Each member of the family has their own specific relationship with one another.
You can feel the years of fighting have crafted the way in which they interact with each other.
While Marriage Story might be Baumbach’s best film, these are the best performances he gets.
Dialogue

Who is the best dialogue writer in Hollywood?
Some people might say Tarantino or Sorken. And they may be right.
But for our money, no one captures how people actually speak better than Noah Baumbach.
He is able to fully realize the way a dysfunctional family communicates with each other.
Not giving space for the other person to finish their sentence. Not responding to the question someone just asked because you were already thinking of the next thing you were going to say.
There is an amazing Nerdwriter video on this specific topic and we love it so much that we are making it today's clip , along with the trailer for the film.
(Also because Netflix doesn't have any clips of this movie on YouTube and I didn’t want to record a shitty video of the scene on my phone).
