This is my mom’s favorite movie.

He is a Brooklyn-based cinematographer with a passion for documentary and indie narrative work.

His recent work includes the video assets for Jean-Michel Basquiat: King Pleasure and a web series, Viral, which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival.

This is my mom’s favorite movie.

I think this clip just sticks in my head as a great encapsulation of Nashville and Altman’s ensemble filmmaking in general.

Altman was incredibly skilled at using large casts/characters to push his stories forward and was particularly known for his use of overlapping dialogue.

In this scene, Lily Tomlin is physically far from the camera, but we feel close to her and sense her connection to the singer.
