A Please Consume Christmas: Day 3

We hope you have been enjoying all the scenes we have put together for you.

To celebrate this season we are going to look at Christmas movies.

Let’s have some fun with it.

In our mind, if a film even thinks about drinking some eggnog, then we consider it a Christmas movie.

So grab a blanket, turn on some Mariah Carey, and leave the change you filthy animal.

Please enjoy this week's non-traditional Christmas picks.

Let’s talk about independent Cinema for a second.

Vital but often pushed aside by Hollywood. Independent cinema is any movie made without the involvement of a mainstream Hollywood studio, sometimes they are high-budget passion projects like last year's The Green Knight'', sometimes they are midbudget filmmakers trying to prove themselves to a studio like “Pulp Fiction”, and then there is the real lifeblood of this market… No budget filmmakers trying to tell stories that no studio would ever finance like today’s film.

Tangerine is written, directed, shot, edited, and produced by Sean Baker, an earnest, passionate filmmaker who does not seem to have any interest in mainstream Hollywood, making vehicles like this, a film about transgender sex workers in California trying to find wholeness in their messy and often broken lives whether that’s through, sex, drugs, abusive relationships, or musical aspirations.

Baker is a filmmaker with a big heart, empathy for the sex work industry, and a weird love of making movies set in donut shops.

Did we mention the whole film is shot on an iPhone?
